How to photograph Perseids with a phone
A modern phone can record bright meteors if it has a long-exposure, night or astrophotography mode. Stabilize it on a tripod, turn off the flash, use the widest rear camera and avoid digital zoom. Set a timer or remote shutter so touching the screen does not move the phone.
Use the widest main lens that still performs well at night.
Try 10–20 seconds, then check whether stars become trails or the sky becomes too bright.
Run continuous night shots or an interval mode. One frame is unlikely to catch a meteor.

Focus manually before the action
Autofocus often hunts in darkness. Switch to manual focus, magnify a bright star or distant light in live view, and adjust until it is as small and sharp as possible. Tape the focus ring if it moves easily. Recheck after a major temperature change.
Point away from the radiant for longer trails
Meteors close to Perseus appear short. Frame 30–60 degrees away to capture longer streaks, while including a mountain, tree, building or horizon for scale. Use a horizontal frame for landscape and a vertical frame when the Milky Way or a strong foreground leads upward.
